In the winter we have to watch out for moose walking through town. A moose can get angry very easily and they have been known to stomp on people.

When the hair on a moose's back and hump raises, you need to carefully and slowly back away from them.  They will also snort at you to express their disapproval of you.

I had a good laugh the first time I heard on the radio that a moose walking down a main road in town and it was causing a traffic jam. One morning, work traffic was backed up for about 2 miles as the moose wandered down the road.   Apparently this moose was in no hurry to get anywhere and was enjoying it's walk.  Needles to say, many driver's were upset at being late for work.

Can you imagine the excuses people have for being laste for work in Alaska.  "The moose made me late!!!".

In the summer, we are on alert to watch for bear, mainly black bear. If a brown bear, or Grizzly bear, comes to town, it's location is advertised on the local radio stations to make sure people use extreme caution in the area.  Actually as part of the public service here, the authorities kep you apprised of the location of all wildlife in the city.

Bear have also been known to attack people here in Anchorage.  We don't have to worry about the bear in the winter months since they are tucked away in a cave somewhere sleeping off the summer.

If I figure out how to post photos, I'll post some for your enjoyment.
