I have lived in Alaska for 3+ years. If you like cool temperatures and really long summer days, then Alaska is for you. This year we haven't had much of a summer. It rarely gets to 70 degrees and there is snow already in the mountains around the state. I currently live in Anchorage, the largest city in Alaska, and I can see the mountains that surround the city.

Many people in Alaska are also avid hunters as well as fishermen. Along with fall comes the beginnings of thew colder temperatures outside.Read More »

I had never heard of dip netting before I came to Alaska. To me if you went fishing you used a rod and reel, and had a small net to scoop the fish out of the water before they shook the hook out of their mouth. Read More »

Moose are like big cows, so you would think, but moose have a totally different personality. You can drive a small compact car under an adult moose and not touch their belly. These creatures are really big. The typical size of an adult moose is between 1200 to 1500 pounds. Read More »
